Leadership & governance

Who oversees this work.

The Center operates under the governance of the Norwalk Seventh-day Adventist Church, a 501(c)(3) religious nonprofit. A volunteer leadership team of program leads and church members guides programs, finances, and policy, with pastoral oversight and formal accountability to the church board.

Structure

Six roles, and what each one is responsible for.

Pastoral oversight

Senior pastor, Norwalk Seventh-day Adventist Church

Provides spiritual and ethical oversight, and holds final responsibility for the Center's conduct toward the community. Approves any program that touches safeguarding, pastoral care, or public representation of the church.

Center leadership team

Volunteer program leads

Meets monthly to plan the calendar, review how each program is going, allocate volunteers and supplies, and decide what to start or stop. Every program area has a lead on this team.

Program leads

One per program area

Run the week-to-week work: scheduling, volunteer assignments, recording service data, and being the person a participant can raise a problem with directly.

Treasurer

Church treasurer

Holds Center funds within the church's accounts, processes receipts and disbursements, and reports on Center finances quarterly to the church board.

Church board

Elected church members

Reviews financial reports, approves the annual budget and major expenditures, and is the body to which the Center is formally accountable.

Safeguarding lead

Designated team member

Owns background-check compliance, the two-adult rule, and the process for handling any concern about a child or vulnerable adult. Concerns can be reported directly to this person.

We publish roles and responsibilities rather than names and photographs. Many of our volunteers work with children and with families in sensitive circumstances, and several have asked us not to publish their details. To reach a specific role, email info@lifetransformationcenter.org or call (562) 280-2461 and we will connect you with the right person by name.

How we govern

Four commitments that shape every decision.

Volunteer-led, not staff-heavy

Nearly everyone who runs a program here is a volunteer. It keeps overhead low and keeps decisions with people who are in the room with participants each week.

No single person decides alone

Program changes, budget decisions, and safeguarding matters all require more than one person. That is deliberate — it protects participants and it protects volunteers.

Accountable to people we serve

Anyone can raise a concern to a program lead, the leadership team, or the pastor. We respond, and we tell you what we did about it.

Faith-based, never conditional

The Center is operated by a church, and we say so plainly. No service, class, or resource has ever required attending a service or sharing our beliefs, and none ever will.

Raising a concern

If something goes wrong, tell us.

Start with the program lead if you are comfortable doing so. If you are not, or if the concern is about a leader, contact the Center directly and ask for the leadership team or the safeguarding lead. You will get an acknowledgement, and you will be told what happened as a result.

Concerns about the immediate safety of a child or vulnerable adult are escalated to the safeguarding lead and reported to the appropriate California authorities as required by law. Our full policy is on the safeguarding page.
