Stories, in our neighbors' own words.

Many nonprofits fill this page with composite characters and stock photography. We do not. Every story here comes from a real Norwalk neighbor who read it, approved it, and signed a consent form — and who can have it removed at any time.

Published stories

We are gathering our first consented stories.

The Center is early in its work, and the families we serve are living through the hardest parts of their stories right now. We would rather show an honest empty page than invent a testimonial — a fabricated story would betray exactly the trust this page is meant to demonstrate. Stories will appear here as participants finish their programs and choose to share.

In the meantime, the clearest picture of our work is what we actually do each week:

Our consent standard

How a story gets on this page.

People come to the Center at vulnerable moments. A story about that moment belongs to them, not to us. Six rules govern everything published here.

01

We ask, separately from service

Nobody is asked for a story while they are receiving help. Requests come later, from a program lead the person already knows, so there is no sense that sharing is the price of a grocery box or a tutoring slot.

02

Saying no changes nothing

Declining has no effect on any service, now or later. We say this out loud every time we ask, because a request from an organization that helped you is not a neutral request.

03

Written consent, in plain language

A one-page form in English or Spanish states exactly where the story will appear, whether a photo is included, and what name is used. No legal jargon, no blanket permissions.

04

The person approves the final text

We write it up, send it back, and publish only what they sign off on. If we got a detail wrong or they want a sentence cut, it gets cut.

05

Consent can be withdrawn at any time

One email or phone call and the story comes down, no explanation needed. We do not ask people to justify changing their minds.

06

We protect identity where it matters

For anything involving children, domestic situations, immigration, health, or finances, we use a first name only or a pseudonym, and never name a school, employer, or street.

Share yours

If the Center has helped you, we would be honored to hear it.

You do not have to be photographed, use your last name, or share anything you would rather keep private. You can tell us in person, over the phone, or by email — whichever is easiest. And you can change your mind afterward.

Remove or change a story

If your story appears on this site and you want it edited or taken down, email info@lifetransformationcenter.org or call (562) 280-2461. We remove it promptly and do not ask why.

Our full commitments on data, photography, and safeguarding are on the Trust & Safety page and in our Privacy Policy.
