What's happening

Events and classes at the Center.

The Center hosts health fairs, concerts, food distributions, multi-week classes, and service days throughout the year. Everything listed here is free or low-cost and open to every Norwalk neighbor, regardless of faith or background.

Confirmed dates

Dates for the current season are being confirmed with our partners.

We publish a date only once the venue, volunteers, and partner organizations are all locked in — we would rather list nothing than list a date a neighbor shows up for and finds cancelled. The event types below run every year and describe exactly what to expect when the next dates open.

What we host

Six kinds of gatherings, every year.

These are the events the Center runs on a recurring basis. If you are planning around one of them, call us and we will tell you where that season's planning stands.

Community health fairs

Free blood pressure, glucose, and BMI screenings alongside plain-language health coaching. Held in the Center's fellowship hall with volunteer nurses and health educators. No appointment, no insurance, no cost.

Typically twice a year, spring and fall

Community concerts

Evening performances from our choir, piano students, and visiting musicians. Free and open to the neighborhood, with a reception afterward. These are often a family's first visit to the Center.

Seasonal, including a Christmas program

Food and holiday distributions

Grocery and fresh-produce distributions, plus Thanksgiving and Christmas drives that include a full holiday meal box. Open to any Norwalk household that needs one.

Ongoing, with holiday drives in November and December

Classes and workshop series

Multi-week series on budgeting, plant-based cooking, computer basics, résumé writing, parenting, and marriage enrichment. Most run four to eight sessions and are capped so every participant gets attention.

Rolling cohorts through the year

Volunteer service days

Neighborhood cleanups, facility work days, and partner-site projects. A good entry point for groups, families, and anyone who wants to help without a weekly commitment.

Several times a year

Family and seasonal gatherings

Back-to-school events, Vacation Bible School, and family nights built around food, games, and time together. Children are always welcome and always free.

Attending

What to expect if you come.

  • No cost, no registration for most events. Health fairs, concerts, and distributions are walk-in. Multi-week classes are capped and do ask you to sign up so we can prepare materials.
  • No church membership required. Community events are open to everyone. We will not ask about your beliefs and will not invite you to a worship service unless you ask us to.
  • Parking and access. Free on-site parking at 12201 Firestone Blvd. The fellowship hall is ground-level and step-free.
  • Children are welcome. Family events are designed for children; for adult classes, ask us about childcare when you register.
  • Spanish support. Tell us in advance and we will arrange a Spanish-speaking volunteer where we can.

Host or partner on an event

We regularly co-host with clinics, schools, food banks, and other Norwalk organizations. If your group wants to run a screening, class, or resource table at the Center, we have the hall, the volunteers, and the neighborhood relationships.
